From next year a part of the double-decker buses in circulation in Liverpool will emit water vapor from the exhaust gases. The administration of the English town has, in fact, announced for the local public system the order of a ‘double deck’ hydrogen fleet, with first deliveries starting from 2020.<\/p>\n

The goal is to put it into service 25. The introduction of the new ‘green’ means will be accompanied by the opening of a hydrogen refueling station for motor vehicles capable of supplying 500 kg of fuel per day: its operation is always scheduled for next year and will arise in the St Helens area , near the BOC Gas and Gear plant that already produces H2 liquid for medical and industrial uses.<\/p>\n

The vehicles that will be used by the city transport company are the new Enviro 400 Fuel cells: produced by the British Alexander Dennis, they are developed starting from the homonymous diesel model, have two accesses, one of which is easier for wheelchairs.<\/p>\n

The “power unit” was developed by the Londoner Arcola Energy. The vehicles will be purchased thanks to the contribution of a 6.4 million pounds government tender, about 7.4 million to the exchange rate. This is a significant step towards the realization of a ‘zero carbon’ economy, an objective that the local administration would like to achieve by 2040.<\/p>\n
