\nL’escargot africain g\u00e9ant est originaire d’Afrique de l’Est et est probablement l’escargot g\u00e9ant africain le plus commun au monde.<\/p>\n
\nSa coquille a une couleur brun\u00e2tre avec des bandes plus claires ou plus fonc\u00e9es, elle est allong\u00e9e et form\u00e9e de bobines commun\u00e9ment enroul\u00e9es dans le sens antihoraire (les sous-esp\u00e8ces dans lesquelles les bobines s’enroulent dans la direction oppos\u00e9e sont beaucoup plus rares). Compte tenu de la taille, il est possible de voir les pi\u00e8ces buccales distinctement \u00e0 l’\u0153il nu, form\u00e9es par la radula gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 laquelle l’animal peut se nourrir en grattant la nourriture. En fait, la radula est une sorte de langue, qui a dans la partie sup\u00e9rieure une s\u00e9rie de denticules calcaires (plusieurs centaines) qui sont continuellement consomm\u00e9s et renouvel\u00e9s dans la partie arri\u00e8re de celle-ci.<\/p>\n
